Sandwiches and the media

Dear Auntie Greg,

I read somewhere that a snadwhich taste better if you cut it in two from corner to corner, not side to side. I tried it, I made two identicle sandwhiches (cheese) and cut them differently, but to me they both tasted the same.

Could you please try it out and let me know how it goes. (experiement with various fillings)

Hi Jon,
Right, I've got some news on my findings for you. I, like yourself first tried the 'diagonal cut' on a cheese sandwich first, then a ham sandwich then on a pate sandwich. I must tell you that my findings were the same right across the board.
In each case I was hugely expectant having tried the perpendicular equivalent, and then found that I was rather disappointed by the 'corner to corner style' of the sister-sandwich.
We face a huge problem now though, because we aren't just dealing with a straight comparison, we are dealing with more, much more. The key to this is expectancy. Having discovered from you and several articles that the diagonal cut is meant to be tastier, I expected a much higher standard than its rectangular counterpart despite the fact that it was made from the exact same ingredients. Therefore, we must ask, are we comparing the two sandwiches, or are we comparing the diagonal sandwich with our expectations of said sandwich having been told that it would be better than four sided equivalent?
It's impossible to tell, and I must conclude that our experiment has been thwarted by media coverage.
If you make any developments then please keep me informed.
Much love,

Auntie Greg x
