Hare today...

Captain Bucky O'Hare, as the name suggests, would be a hare.. Right?
But the theme tune (Bucky! Captain Bucky O'Hare, Goes where no ordinary Rabbit would dare), claims he is actually a Rabbit. Any thoughts?

May I start by saying it's wonderful to hear from you, and in fact you are the first celebrity to post an Auntie Greg Problem! Your problem has an extremely simple solution, Captain Bucky O'Hare is proud of his Irish heritage. It's the lowest level of humour, Irish wit, because his warren had an awful rivalry with neighbouring hares, when he defeated his opposite number (by scalping him) it was compulsory to take his name.
This also explains his green appearance, he paints himself green to show off his Irish roots.
Alternatively it could be that all* childrens cartoonists take drugs.

*In this context all means, I have no idea whether what I'm saying is fact or fiction.
