'Aural pornographers from Southend-on-Sea' shouts the bumf for 4ft Pimp: I'm frightened, and it's not just the man on the front ocver putting on lipstick. Simple Plesaures... is a throwback to a ifferent time: a time populated by big hair, guitar solos and rocking riffs. 'Great Aunt Anaconda' bursts out at you before you have a chance to sit down, it's the equivalent of hanging out backstage at Woodstock for a jamming sesh: organs, guitars, drums, the full monty. The Southenders wear their influences on their sleeves and it's hard to pick out any individual band in their sound. While 'No Ball Games' is a different track altogether, a cheeky little song which brings duelling organ sounds and guitar riffs together; it's easily my favourite track. This brings us nicely along to 'Shotgun Paradise', a song which shows the full extent of 4ft Pimp's lyrical eccentricity and fast-paced revelry.
Simple Pleasures... is definitely worth buying if you can find it. 4ft Pimp have managed to produce a CD which is fun and entertaining in a way that the Darkness could only manage wearing tight pants.
